SELANGAU: It was a big crowd with 1,500 people present at the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally held at the SJK Tong Ah Hall in Selangau yesterday.

Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira said the big turnout at the event showed the rural communities were confident in the leadership of GPS.

“Today, we have communities not only from Selangau, but also Kakus and those from Siong to show their support for GPS,” he said.

He said he will continue to serve the people in his constituency, and is going to defend the Tamin seat in the coming 2021 State election.

“We cannot put our trust on Prime Minister Tun Mahathir, DAP and PKR, because they have yet to deliver their promises until today,” he said, adding that many state projects were being put on hold by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

He said the people of Sarawak were lucky to have Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg because many cancelled projects have been continued and fully funded by the state government.

“And for Selangau area, he (Johari) has approved several projects which include the construction of roads in Siung, the RM8 million mini sports complex project, the RM5 million waterfront project, and other Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects as well as minor rural projects (MRP),” he pointed out.

Therefore, he urged the communities to render their support to Johari and GPS so that more development projects can be carried out in the future.

“Now we must be prepared to fight especially in safeguarding our rights. So, before PH could attack us we shoot them first.”
