KUCHING: Fifteen thousand visitors are expected to attend an education expo by Mara University of Technology (UiTM) Samarahan entitled “Selangkah Expo 2019” from March 29 to April 1.

At the expo which opens from 9am to 5pm, 25  exhibitors from various faculties  are briefing visitors on a wide range of programmes and professional qualifications available in Malaysia and  at UiTM Samarahan, Samarahan Campus 2 and Mukah Campus.

Held in conjunction with UiTM Malaysia open day, the event is also part of the university’s Corporate Social Responsibility project to enhance ties between UiTM and the public.

UiTM Sarawak Deputy Rector for student welfare, Dr Isa Mohaddin told a press conference today, “The Faculty of Quantity Surveying as well as the Science and Technology Faculties are receiving the most applications.”

He pointed out the courses were in line with the trend towards “technical and vocational education and training” (TVET) and the move towards Industry 4.0.

“We are registering students for the September intake.  UiTM will take in 2,000 students throughout Malaysia,” said Isa.

He also encouraged school-leavers with poor Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) results to try the UiTM pre-diploma programme.

Similar expos were held in Mukah, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu on March 23.
