KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday bestowed state honours and medals on 151 individuals in a ceremony held at Astana Negeri here.
Leading the list of recipients was Managing Director of Nonakraf Communication Sdn Bhd, Dr Kamil Salem, 59, who received theDarjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K.) with nine others.
Twenty received the Civil Service Medals Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (P.P.B.) led by Daro District Officer Abang Mohamed Abang Turkey.
The Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S.) was bestowed on nine recipients whereas 36 received the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K.).
For the Civil Service Medal Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T.) there were 23 recipients whereas the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S.) had the most number of recipients at 53.
Also present during the ceremony were Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, Speaker of Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Datuk Francis Harden anak Hollis the Assistant Minister of Rural Economy (Interior Areas) and Plantation, Assistant Minister of River Transportation and Safety Liwan Lagang, Datu Len Talif Salleh the Assistant Minister of Environment, Brunei Darussalam Counsul General Hajah Kartini binti Pengiran Haji Tahir, local dignitaries and heads of departments.
