KUCHING: A total of 153 people received the State Awards from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Astana Negeri here yesterday.
The award ceremony was pre ceded by Awangku Jawa @ Peng i r an Jawa Peng i r a n Amzah, 89, who was awarded Dar jah Yang Amat Mul i a Bintang Sarawak, Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS).
He is the founder of Parti BERJASA in Lawas in the 1960s, and had served as a councillor at the Lawas District Council for over 20 years.
The Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bint ang Sarawak, Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) was awarded to Profesor Dr Othman Bojo, Profesor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim, Abu Bakar Ibrahim, Ramlee Yatim, Elesabet Paya Wan and Anng Ng Fui Choo.
11 individuals were awarded the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Pegawai Bint ang Kenyalang (PBK). Meanwhile, the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam, Pingat Perkhidma t an Ba k t i (PPB) was awarded to 22 individuals whereas the Darjah Yang Amat Mul ia Bintang Sarawak, Ahl i Bintang Sarawak (ABS) was presented to 11 individuals.
Th e Da r j a h Ut ama Ya ng Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang was awarded to 24 individuals whi le the Pingat Pent adbi ran Awam, Ping a t Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) was presented to 34 individuals. 44 individuals were conferred the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sar awak , Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
Also present during the award ceremony were Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Speaker of State Legislative Assembly, Assistant Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datu Len Talif Salleh, Assistant Minister for Native Laws and Customs, Datuk John Sikie Tayai and Assistant Minister for Industries and Investment, Malcom Mussen.
