BINTULU: Sixteen eateries were served with closure orders while 74 compound notices were issued during the “Ops Premis Bersih” last February.
According to a statement by the Food Safety and Quality Unit of the Bintulu Divisional Health Office, 86 food premises were also inspected during the one-month operation.
The operation carried out by the Food Safety and Quality Unit aimed to ensure that food premises adhered to good hygiene and food handling practices.
“The 16 food premises were ordered to close as a result of the inspection while 74 compound notices worth RM37,200 under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983 were issued.
“Food operators were reminded to always comply with the Food Hygiene Regulations at all times to maintain the cleanliness of their premises and prevent food poisoning,” added the statement.
