SARIKEI: The state government has approved a total of 1,697 water tanks for the benefit of residents in Sarikei division.
Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the provision of the water tanks was intended to facilitate the community in storing water and carrying out daily activities, especially during the drought season.
He said this at the Symbolic Handover Ceremony of Sarawak state government water tanks in Sarikei on Monday.
With regard to the distribution of the water tanks, he said priority will be given to areas where residents had not received water tanks.
Huang urged all parties responsible to identify and confirm residents requiring these water tanks.
Also present were Sarikei district officer Christopher Ranggau Unting, Sarikei District Council chairman Wong Zee Yeng, Penghulu Huang Tiong Kang, Kapitan Ling Dien Yong, and Kapitan Ling Sien Chuong.
