PUSA: A total of 17 cows were slaughtered during the DUN Beting Maro Korban Perdana programme in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.
The cows were donated by Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli and Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor.
Nine cows were distributed to Pusa Zone residents while the remaining eight were distributed to Beladin Zone residents.
“Myself and Razaili joined the residents for the programme. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly.
“My hope is that this brings joy to the less fortunate,” said Shafizan, adding that he hoped to continue such programmes next year.
Meanwhile, Razaili stated: “The practice of charity indirectly educates us to always be tolerant, spread compassion, and help each other.
“It also teaches us not to be arrogant, self-centered, or indifferent just because we’re constantly thinking about our own needs and comfort.
“In a societal context, it depicts how an individual sacrifices wealth or hard-earned money to perform the sacrificial worship every year alongside other commitments that need to be fulfilled.
“This situation certainly teaches us not to be calculative, especially when performing the required worship in Islam.”
