BINTULU: The Sarawak Immigration Department has arrested 10 individuals of various foreign nationalities last Monday.
The operation, which targetted convenience stores and eateries, was conducted at 17 locations, including six hotspots, around the district.
Acting on public complaints and gathered intelligence, the Bintulu Immigration Enforcement Unit examined a total of 48 individuals for their documentation and of these, 10 were taken into custody.
The foreign detainees, comprising eight men and two women, were found to be overstaying, lacking valid travel documents and valid permits to stay in Malaysia.
All of them are being investigated under the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The public is encouraged to report any information regarding the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
