KUCHING: Police on Sunday issued a total of 17 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Lawas recorded 15 compounds, while Kota Samarahan and Miri recorded one compound each.

Police also arrested a local man in Lawas for operating a business without a licence. He will be investigated under the Entertainment Ordinance.

The Ministry of Local Government also issued 85 verbal, written and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

Parol teams also inspected 1,353 premises throughout Sarawak to monitor SOP compliance.

These included 285 restaurants, supermarkets (194), banks (120), places of worship (66), public markets (57), government offices (54), leisure places (36), hawker stalls (24), construction sites (21), factories (17) and others (479).

Under ‘Ops Benteng’, 1,072 vehicles were inspected at seven roadblocks in six districts —two in Lawas and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
