170 papers presented at Advanced Sustainable Technology International Conference

KUCHING: The Advanced Sustainable Technology International Conference (ASTECH 2024) saw the presentation of 170 papers from seven countries, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, India, Nigeria, Philippines, and Portugal.

Politeknik Kuching Sarawak (PKS) director Samsudin Mohd Salleh said nearly 600 students from various educational institutions around Kuching attended the event, which included local and private universities, polytechnics, community colleges, vocational colleges, and high schools.

“It is inspiring to witness the participation of 170 research paper presentations from seven countries at this conference.

“The papers are contributions from Malaysia (138 papers) with Sarawak (40), Sabah (five), West Malaysia (93), Indonesia (26), Australia (two), and India, Nigeria, Philippines, and Portugal (oner each).

“All these presentations share a common objective of fostering research and innovation for the sustainable development of TVET, thus creating pathways to a resilient future,” he said in his speech at The Waterfront Hotel today.

ASTECH Sarawak 2024 is a collaborative initiative between Politeknik Kuching Sarawak (PKS), Politeknik Negeri Bandung (POLBAN), Indonesia, and BIMP-EAGA countries.

The conference, he added, aims to advance the region’s educational and developmental objectives by addressing key issues and empowering the younger generation with insights and skills for a sustainable future.

“Themed Fostering Research and Innovation for Sustainable TVET Development: Pathways to a Resilient Future, ASTECH Sarawak 2024 focused on engineering, technology, science, TVET, and education.

“The conference features town hall sessions, international forums, and exhibitions showcasing the latest developments and innovations from both government and private sectors,” he said.

Organised by Politeknik Negeri Bandung (POLBAN) in collaboration with Politeknik Kuching Sarawak (PKS), the conference plays a crucial role in bringing together professionals across various fields to exchange knowledge and innovative ideas.
