KUCHING: A total of 178 teachers from Serian District Education Department received their Excellence Service Awards 2016 held at at Imperial Hotel, here yesterday.
Officiating at the event was the Minister of Youth, Sports and Solidarity Dato’ Sri Micheal Manyin Jawong who is a former secondary school principal.
In his address to launch the event, Manyin pointed out that teachers must be committed in educating the young generation to ensure their survival for the future.
“The necessary skills and qualification are essential for them to ensure that they would become the ones that are leading this country in the future.
“But, if the next generation does not acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, they won’t survive, and this is where the teachers become important as they are the tools to educate our young generation,” Manyin pointed out.
Their commitment also plays an important role as it shows their performance and contribution towards the job.
Manyin also noted that teachers must motivate themselves in educating the students nowadays.
The motivation is to ensure that the students learn about the essential knowledge and at the same time inculcating the hard working spirit in them, he said.
“Perform well in your duty, and if you do that, those children in Serian and Simunjan can benefit from their education and survive well,” said Manyin.
