SRI AMAN: The Sarawak Immigration Department, in collaboration with the Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), recently conducted a joint special operation codenamed ‘Ops Bersepadu’, resulting in the arrest of 18 foreigners.
A roadblock, organised jointly by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division and the Sri Aman JPJ Operation Unit, was set up in Lubok Antu to curb the entry and exit of foreigners at the border, especially during the current “mudik lebaran” season – the annual tradition of Indonesian workers going back to their hometowns ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
In the operation, the enforcement teams had thoroughly inspected a total of 139 individuals and several vehicles.
Of these, 18 foreign nationals were apprehended and they will face charges under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for various offences including overstaying, misuse of passes, and lack of valid travel documents.
The department urged members of the public to report any information regarding suspected foreign individuals in their respective to the nearest Immigration Office or through established channels.
Meanwhile, JPJ has issued 15 notices of non-compliance for offences such as driving without a licence, absence of road tax, technical violations, and overloading.
Road users are reminded to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations. They can report any traffic-related issues through the e-Aduan@jpj app or http://jpj.spab.gov.my.
