KUCHING: The Muara Tebas Bengkung Conferment Ceremony for Pukulan 12 Spring Sendeng Hadiah conducted at Masjid Darul Ikhwan saw 18 martial art practitioners receiving belts after passing their Belt Promotion Test on Oct 26.

At the event, the guest of honour, Taib Yusuf, chairman of Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) Kuching Division, stated that such a milestone would inspire Muara Tebas Pukulan 12 Spring Sendeng art practitioners to greater heights in martial arts.

“It is certainly possible for Muara Tebas youth to make a name for themselves as state and national martial art practitioners in the future, as long as they proceed through the correct and appropriate channels,” he remarked.

On a related note, RSS Kuching plans to invite registered martial art practitioners from here and beyond to the new RSS training centre at Jalan Sultan Tengah, which will open next year.

This centre will offer intensive training for those aspiring to become martial arts practitioners who wish to represent their school and Sarawak in upcoming world sporting silat championships.

In his speech, Haini Hamlin, the Guru of the Gelanggang Pukulan 12 Spring Sendeng Hadiah Muara Tebas, advised participants to carry their bengkung with a strong determination to strengthen their personality, spirituality, and morals.

He also stressed the importance of creating martial art practitioners who are excellent at fighting and noble in nature and conduct.

For the record, this Bengkung Conferment Ceremony is an inaugural event, with aspirations for a larger number of participants in next year’s edition.
