KUCHING: The construction of the new mosque at Kampung Semarang in Pusa is expected to be completed in 18 months.
“The design of the building was approved by the State Design Building Committee in July this year,” said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
“Approval from the Land and Survey Department was obtained on Nov 10, a few days before the incident in which tidal waves damaged Masjid Darul Ihsan in Semarang,” he told reporters when asked for updates on the mosque.
Dr Abdul Rahman was met at the handover of the takraw court to Kampung Bintawa Batu Village Development and Security Committee here on Wednesday (Nov 18).
“The plan to construct the mosque started a few years back.
“Tender will be opened on Nov 25 and construction will begin in December this year.”
