BINTULU: In a heartwarming gesture ahead of the Chinese New Year, 180 seniors from underprivileged backgrounds here were the recipients of mini hampers and angpao, courtesy of Sports Toto Malaysia (STM) Sdn. Bhd.
The event, which took place today (Jan 22) at the Bintulu Division Hockey Association’s premises, saw the distribution of these gifts and it was overseen by the assistant manager of Sports Toto Malaysia Sarawak, Henry Liew.
“Aligned with our company’s commitment to giving back, this initiative is set to benefit approximately 18,000 underprivileged seniors from various races,” said Liew in a statement.
The six-day donation drive, which started on Jan 18, targeted needy seniors aged 60 and above in 50 cities and towns nationwide, with Bintulu being a key location.
“Since its inception in 1998, the STM Lottery has contributed over RM25.6 million, impacting more than 455,000 senior citizens nationwide,” he said.
