KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 185 Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday (Feb 21), an increase of 51 cases or 38.05 percent of the cases reported on Saturday.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the total number of positive cases in the state now was 7,943.
It said since no Covid-19 related death was reported, the total number of fatalities remained at 73.
On the breakdown of the positive cases, the committee said 82 cases were recorded in Sibu, Kuching (29), Kapit (20), Sri Aman (11), Bukit Mabong (10), six each in Bau and Bintulu, Song (five), four each in Samarahan and Miri, Kanowit (three), and one each in Serian, Sebauh, Julau, Sarikei and Belaga.
SDMC said of the 82 cases in Sibu district, 67 were contacts screened from active case detection (ACD), 13 were from individual screenings while two involved a medical worker at a health facility.
The committee said in Kuching district, 11 cases were contacts screened from ACD, 11 were from individual screenings, three cases involved the Jalan Green Cluster, two involved medical workers at a health facility, one case involved the Sungai Maong Cluster and one case was from individual screening with symptoms.
SDMC said in Kapit district, four cases were contacts screened from ACD, two were from individual screenings with symptoms, nine cases involved the Gelong Cluster, four cases involved the Jan Yong Cluster and one case involved the Pasai Cluster.
It said of the 11 cases in Sri Aman district, 10 involved the Kejatau Cluster and one involved the Sebangkoi Cluster.
The committee said in Bukit Mabong district, 10 cases involved the Gelong Cluster.
SDMC said in Bau district, six cases were from contacts screened from ACD.
It said of the six cases in Bintulu district, three were from individual screenings with symptoms, two were from individual screenings and one case was from contacts screened from ACD.
In Song district, SDMC said three cases were from contacts screened from ACD while two cases involved the Pasai Cluster.
SDMC said in Miri district, two cases were from individual screenings, with one case categorised as local transmission and another one as Import C after getting infected from Sri Aman. Another one case was from contacts screened from ACD while one case was from individual screening.
In Samarahan district, the committee said three cases involved the Univista Cluster and one case was from contacts screened from ACD.
In Kanowit district, SDMC said two cases involved the Pasai Cluster and one case was from contacts screened from ACD.
For the single case reported respectively in Serian and Sarikei districts, the committee said these cases were from individual screenings with symptoms.
In Julau district, it said the single case was from contacts screened from ACD.
SDMC said the single case in Belaga district was from individual screening and the case was categorised at Import C after getting infected from Sibu.
In Sebauh district, the committee said the case was from individual screening at a health facility.
