SIBU: One hundred and ninety-five students will receive an incentive each during the Sibu Division Pre-Gawai Dayak Celebration Dinner to be held on the sixth floor of Kingwood Hotel here at 6.30pm. on May 19.
Organising chairperson of the dinner Angelyn Uchi Maseng said these students had excelled in last year’s UPSR, PT3, SPM and STPM examinations.
“Besides that, other highlights of the dinner are the Kumang Gawai beauty contest, the prize presentation ceremony of a pua kumbu contest, cultural performances and entertainment,” she said when chairing the final committee meeting on the dinner at a leading hotel here on Friday night.
Also present was Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu branch chairman Chambai Lindong.
According to Uchi, the Pre-Gawai Dayak Celebration Dinner was organised by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Sibu branch in collaboration with SDNU Sibu branch, SDNU Rejang branch, SDNU Sibu Jaya branch and Orang Ulu National Association (OUNA) Sibu branch.
“We have 130 tables and they are all sold out,” she added.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to officiate at the event.
