JULAU: As at May 31 this year, the state Land and Survey Department has surveyed a total of 2.18 million acres or 884,889 hectares of native customary rights (NCR) land.
The work was done under a new initiative of surveying NCR land, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Of the area surveyed, a total of 26,765 lots encompassing 33,388 hectares belonged to individuals, he said in the text of his speech at a ceremony for the presentation of land titles to owners of NCR land at Rumah Kiroh in Rantau Limau near here.
A total of 196 land titles were issued under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code to the respective owners during the ceremony.
They received the titles from Industries and Investment Assistant Minister Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, who represented Awang Tengah at the ceremony.
According to what Malcolm read out, Awang Tengah urged the landowners concerned to develop their land to
generate additional sources of income.
“Develop your land to gain optimum economic benefits,” he wrote.
