SIBU: A total of 199 individuals have been vaccinated three days since the Sibu Central Market vaccination centre (PPV) here started operations.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said the number was recorded as of Saturday (Aug 14).
He said on the first day of the PPV’s operation on August 12, a total of 43 vaccine recipients were recorded.
“On August 13 and 14, the number of recipients increased — 57 and 99 respectively.
“Nevertheless, we believe there are still many people out there who have yet to be vaccinated,” he said when contacted today (Aug 15).
Meanwhile, Ting said the vaccination process here is going on smoothly.
He added that vaccination buses are also provided and the vaccination programme is also held until night time.
“We are very determined and committed to the success of the state government’s efforts to achieve herd immunity in Sibu.
“We also hope that those who have yet to receive the vaccine to visit any PPV in Sibu. You can come straight away,” he said.
Ting said the Sibu Central Market PPV will continue to operate until further notice.
The PPV is the result of a joint effort between the Ministry of Health and SMC. It operates from 8am to 4pm every day including Sundays and public holidays.
