SIBU: A total of 93 primary schools received funds amounting to RM93,000 from the One-Stop Committee to Address Drugs and Substances Issues (OSC MIDS) here on Thursday.

The fund was allocated through the Drug Prevention Education Programme (PPDa), where each school was allocated RM1,000 respectively.

Initially, the PPD has applied for the allocation to address the issue of drugs and substances in educational institutions.

Present to officiate at the handing over ceremony was Acting Sibu District Officer Salehah Hid.

On hand to receive the cheque was Sibu Deputy District Education Officer (PPD) Kong Chiong Hui.

The handover ceremony was held at the Sibu District Office meeting room.

Kong also presented the cheques to the headmasters who attended the ceremony.

The recipients are SK Bahagia Jaya headmaster, who is also chairman of Sibu District Headmaster Council, Sharkawi Hamdan; SK Rantau Panjang headmaster, who is also chairman of Sarawak Dayak Educators Association, Ahpong Enteri; and SJKC Su Lai headmaster cum chairman of Sibu Chinese Teachers Association, Chan Siah Kuong.
