KANOWIT: The Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) team managed to catch a python in a house at Jalan Wayang yesterday.

Kanowit District Bomba Superintendent Arrahman Chik said they received an emergency call from the home owner at 8.39am.

“The snake catching operation using special tools was led by PBK II Azahari M Dai and he was assisted by two personnel. The distance from the station to the house was 1KM.

“Upon arrival, the operation commander found the snake in the kitchen area,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Arrahman revealed that the operation to catch the 2.2-metre long snake weighing about 10 pounds (4.5kg) took about four minutes.

He said the firefighters later released the reptile in the wilderness, away from the public as a security measure.
