KUCHING: Twenty motorists have been ordered to turn back for not having valid travel documents to exit and enter Kuching district.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this makes the tally of vehicles ordered to turn back, since Nov 9, at 156 vehicles.

“Last Saturday, 1,728 vehicles have been inspected in 10 roadblocks set up throughout Kuching district.

“This brought the numbers of cumulative vehicles inspected to 43,405,” the committee said.

Apart from that, 30 compounds have been issued to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places — 20 in Bintulu, seven in Mukah, two in Miri and one in Sarikei.

On the SOPs compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 2,119 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 299 restaurants, supermarkets (203), banks (145), places of worship (80), public markets (71), government offices (64), leisure places (46), hawker stalls (32), construction sites (20), eight factories, and others (1,151).
