KUCHING: Skuad Prihatin Saribas received 20 wheelchairs from SOCOE Sdn Bhd for the needy in the Saribas constituency.

Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Mohamad Razi Sitam said Skuad Prihatin Saribas, a welfare programme, will identify those who are in need of the wheelchairs.

“Through the squad, we have handed over various donations such as food baskets, hospital beds and many more.

“Meanwhile, SOCOE not only donated wheelchairs to us today but also last year, with 10 wheelchairs for the sick and elderly. We are thankful for the donation,” said Mohamad Razi, who is the Saribas assemblyman.

Razi said this when met by reporters after the handover ceremony of the wheelchairs by SOCOE chief executive officer JW Sam at the Baitulmakmur building, here today.

The deputy minister said the Skuad Prihatin was established during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 to help distribute food baskets to the local community.

“Since then, their role has become greater, especially on welfare matters, not only distributing food baskets and giving out aid but also helping in many areas, including the needs of the sick,” he said.

Razi also added that the wheelchairs received were also donated to hospitals and clinics in Betong and Debak.
