BINTULU: Narcotics police here arrested a youth on suspicion of drug abuse on Thursday (June 9).
Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit said the 20-year-old suspect was detained for inspection at Sungai Plan Phase 2, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong.
“The suspect will be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after police seized 0.3g of drugs believed to be syabu.
“If convicted, the Section provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or a jail term of up to five years.”
Both the suspect and the drugs were taken to the police station for further action.
He added that the suspect would also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act after he tested positive for drugs.
