MIRI: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), handed out agricultural produce to 200 Miri Hospital frontliners.

“It’s part of the ministry’s Prihatin programme, to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic as well as to appreciate the sacrifices made by frontliners,” said Fama chairman Datuk Mohd Fasiah Mohd Faked on Thursday (Oct 14).

“This programme, which was launched in January 2021, involved the private sector and industry players acting as strategic partners, mobilising all members of the community and the government in combating the pandemic,” he added after handing over the items to Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu.

Mohd Fasiah said contributions were also given to those affected by floods and other natural disasters as well as to charities and non-governmental organisations.

As of Oct 9, some 38,874 people in 206 locations nationwide have received a total of 84.61 metric tonnes of food.
