SIBU: A caring community health screening programme was held at Pusat En Lin in Jalan Archer here yesterday.

The programme was organised by the Neighourhood Committee (KRT) of Persiaran Brooke in collaboration with Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference Methodist Women and Lembaga Penduduk Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LPPKN).

According to the chairperson of KRT Persiaran Brooke, Wong Kwong Huong, the programme attracted about 200 people.

She said 70 persons turned up for blood pressure and glucose checks, 73 persons for ear checks and 50 for mamogram, pap smear and HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) DNA registration.

“HPV causes cervix cancer. This HPV DNA can detect one or more than one type high risk HPV and can detect cervix cancer 10 years in advance,” she explained.

Rejang Medical Centre and BEST Hearing Aid Centre were the participating agencies.
