KUCHING:The State Budget 2023 is a pathway towards Sarawak’s impending financial independence.
Describing it as the largest State Budget in Sarawak’s history, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian pointed out that the budget will be focusing on house ownership; infrastructure, water, electricity and road development; and digital as well as talent development.
“This is the largest Budget in Sarawak and it is truly people-centric and will be 70 percent focused on development, 60 percent on developments in the rural area.
“The Sarawak Government for the last few years has emphasised revenue re-engineering and a few other points such as dividend policy, carbon trading and the Federal government’s share of money,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the DUN sitting today (Nov 21).
Dr.Sim also added that the Budget is comprehensive and will benefit everyone.
“Everyone will have benefitted from this budget, and I would like to ask the young people to look through (the State Budget).
“There are so many subsidies, grants and talent developments available,” he said.
