KUCHING: The Rotary Club of Kuching Central collaborated with the Rotary Club of Penang from District 3300 to hand over school kits to 203 students of SMK Pending.

These kits consisted of school bags, uniform, shoes, and stationery. This handover ceremony was officiated at by the President of Rotary Club of Kuching Central, Clarence Yong on 15 April 2017. The event was attended by Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3310 Leslie Phuan, Principal of SMK Pending Yong Ing Thung, President of Rotary Club of Penang, Stephen Soon, members from the Rotary club of Kuching Central and Penang.

As many students of this school come from lower income families staying in rented squatter homes, these kits would help in reducing some of their financial burden.

Part of the funds raised from the recent Rotary Charity Run 2017 was used to purchase the kits, in addition to the funding from RC Penang.
