21 longhouses receive solar power certification

TATAU: Twenty-one longhouses in the Ulu Anap region received certificates for the Solar Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (SARES) for Phase 5 Clusters Tatau A and B during a certificate presentation ceremony held on Thursday. 

The SARES Phase 5 project, which was completed in 2021, stands as a testament to the Sarawak government’s commitment to expediting access to electricity for remote and isolated communities. 

This visionary initiative has been a game-changer for those residing in the depths of Sarawak’s hinterlands. 

Among the proud recipients of the SARES certificates were Rumah (Rh) Gasah, Rh Sayong, Rh Penghulu Enteri, Rh Bilong, Rh Philip, Rh Kelisop, Rh Anai, Rh Usin, Rh Marayang Ak Gerina, Rh Wan Brujong, and Rh Nyanau, all belonging to Cluster Tatau A.

Meanwhile, Cluster Tatau B also witnessed its members receiving certificates, like Rh Saran Anak Belang, Rh Salleh Anak Subang, Satan Anak Ubang, Rh Nira Ak Impa, Rh Suang Ak Gambai, Rh Baja, Rh Jan, Rh Dilang Anak Gindang, Rh Medan Ak Langgong, and Rh Louis Anak Gayau being part of this transformative initiative.

Present during the event were Tatau District Officer Winnie Dian, Senior SARES engineer Zachary Daleng and assistant administrative officer of Tatau District Office Long Jok. 

The certificate presentation ceremony was also graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Penghulu Enteri Anju, Penghulu Michael Agul  and Penghulu Ali Digat.
