DALAT: Twenty-two mothers will be competing in the final of the Mothers Queen Contest on 30 April.
They are Sarimah Marup, 50 (from Miri Division), Clarisa Ratna Mujan,39 (Dalat), Connie Anthony, 48 (Mukah), Rahmah Hasbulah, 51 (Matu), Hanipah Hin, 44 (Balingian), Nur Ayu Sari Abdullah, 38 (Miri), Jamaliah Jerawi, 35 (Oya), Habibu Masidi, 42 ( Oya), Fauziah Nowi, 43 (Dalat), Suriyana Sahari ,37 (Mukah), Hayati Malim, 44 (Oya) , Norhashimah Ekeni, 40 ( Mukah), Rafiah Yahya, 48 (Balingian), Rosenani Abdullah ,42 (Balingian), Atikah Mohamad, 37( Mukah), Hajibah Tahir, 44( Oya), Rosita Philip Linguh, 46(Dalat), Moon Inal, 44 (Dalat), Roslina Rosli, 41 (Mukah), Nur’ain Abdullah, 46 (Balingian), Justina Kuda, 46 (Dalat) and Lena Hassan, 41 (Mukah).
The competition, which offers RM3,000 to the champion, is organised by D’Sanglau Welfare, Recreation, Cultural and Sports Club of Oya Sub-District.
They were among 30 women who entered the contest.
According to the club’s spokesman, Awang Johan Awang Bolhassan, the event is held in conjunction with Festival D’Sanglau.
“The first runner-up will walk away with RM2,000 while the second runner-up will receive RM1,000. There are consolation prizes of RM100 each for the finalists,” he added.
Besides the Mothers Queen contest, another appealing item to be staged from 28 to 30 April, he said, would be the Battle Of The Band (BOTB) offering RM7,000 for the champion band.
To spice up the anniversary celebration of D’Sanglau, Johan said, they would also invite famous guitarists from Indonesia, namely, Utox Londalo and Its Serani.
“The venue of the whole event is at Arena D’ Sanglau Oya at Kampung Kuala Hilir Oya. In fact, the famous Indonesian band, Laskar Band , also used to perform there before.
