KUCHING: Local hawkers are encouraged to come forward and participate in the upcoming Sarawak Regatta 2019.
The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has allocated lots specifically for hawkers from Oct 25 to 27 and Nov 1 to 3 (Fridays to Sundays) along Jalan Gambier and Esplanade Kuching.
A total of 225 lots are provided for hawkers to sell a variety of things such as textiles, accessories, toys, food and drinks.
The six-day permit fee is RM150 per lot measuring 10×10 and hawkers have been asked to use their own tables and canopies according to the size of the lot to ensure uniformity and ease of layout work.
Hawkers who wish to secure a lot can come to DBKU’s auditorium hall on Oct 16 (Wednesday) from 8.30am. All lots are subjected to a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Applications for a spot in this year’s Sarawak Regatta must include two passport-sized pictures, a copy of their identity card (IC), a copy of the food handling course certificate; a copy of the health inspection report together with proof of typhoid vaccination or a copy of the food control card issued by DBKU, and the RM150 fee.
Subsequently, registered hawkers will be required to attend a briefing and drawdown of the lot sales on the same day from 11am onwards.
It is important for all hawkers to ensure the cleanliness of their lots and to comply with the rules and conditions set by the DBKU throughout the festival.
