KUCHING: The Kita MADANI Carnival in Sarawak, scheduled for November 9 to 10 at the Penview Convention Centre (PCC) in Demak will involve various community groups across Sarawak.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol stated that the main attraction of this carnival will be the spirit of unity, highlighted by the participation of people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds in each event.
“The most interesting aspect of the Kita MADANI Carnival is its image of unity, which I believe can strengthen harmony, mutual understanding, and bridge information gaps among communities, especially about government initiatives and policies at the federal level,” he said.
He said this when speaking to reporters after a courtesy visit at the Sarawak Department of Information (JaPen) Headquarters on today (Nov 5).
Abdullah will represent Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to officiate the carnival on November 9.
Additionally, he noted that the carnival would also focus on the Federal Budget 2025 recently announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, particularly in enhancing the understanding about the budget allocation.
Meanwhile, JaPen director Helmi Hamid shared that as the carnival organiser, it has invited 246 MADANI communities from across Sarawak.
Among other things, these communities will open 17 food and handicraft stalls for buying and selling, as well as showcasing their products.
He invited the public to attend and enliven the carnival, which will also feature various other events like Jualan Rahmah and Infiesta PENTARAMA.
“We also hope that through such programme, the community will gain more accurate information,” he said.
In another development, Abdullah suggested that the UKAS and JaPen Sarawak collaborate to organise a recreational programme as a platform to strengthen strategic ties between the two agencies.
