THE Sarawak government plans to deliver 2,478 units of affordable housing throughout the state under the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP).
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said his ministry adopts the National Affordable Housing Policy for the implementation of low-cost housing development which capped the pricing of affordable housing between RM100,000 and RM300,000.
He said the ministry also collaborates with the National Housing Department to provide a low-cost housing programme known as Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR), offering low-cost housing at between RM50,400 and RM59,220.
Tiang was responding to Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii (GPS-Repok) during Q&A session in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.
He highlighted sanctioned affordable housing schemes by the private sector and the requirements for overall housing development planning as imposed by the State Planning Authority (SPA) through the delivery of SPEKTRA Lite, SPEKTRA Medium, PUTERA and Sri Pertiwi are also been implemented.
He said to assist low-income group in owning a house, the state has introduced Housing Deposit and Repayment Assistance Scheme (HDRAS) where all eligible first-time house buyer will be assisted with an amount of RM10,000 as a deposit or assistance for the monthly repayment of housing loan at RM200 per month for a period of 48 months.
“The development of Ruman SPEKTRA Permata (RSP) at Skim Pembesaran Kampung (SPK) and Skim Penempatan Semula (SPS) are also being implemented,” he added.
