BINTULU: A total of 2,486 people from this division received their 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) payment vouchers from Samalaju Assemblyman, Majang Renggi at the Civic Centre here yesterday.
The BR1M recipients comprised 286 from Jepak constituency, Tanjung Batu constituency (1,012), Kemena constituency (677) and 511 from Samalaju constituency.
“BR1M is part of the government’s effort to improve the nation social safety net. Through BR1M the government also shows that it cares for the welfare of the people. Other assistance include 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M), 1Malaysia People’s Shop (KR1M), 1Malaysia Clinic and others,” Majang told the recipients in his speech at the BR1M vouchers presentation ceremony.
He also advised the recipients to give priority to their family’s needs and children’s education and not to misuse the money.
Among those present were Bintulu Deputy Resident, Hajah Hamdiah Bakir, Sebauh District Officer, Desmond Jerukan, heads of departments and local community leaders.
