SIBU: A total of 25 Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of the longhouses in Lanang parliamentary constituency received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants at Sibu Jaya Community Hall on Friday night.

The grants were presented by Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Michael Tiang.

Speaking at the MRP presentation ceremony which was held in conjunction with the closing of Gawai Dayak (Ngiling Bidai) ceremony, Tiang said the allocation of the funds showed that Lanang had always been cared for under the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

He said BN government was a party that could bring progress and development to the people, especially those in rural areas.

He urged the people, including the community leaders and longhouse chiefs, to continue giving support to BN government to ensure continuous development in rural areas.

At the event, Tiang also presented contributions, in the form of hampers, to 54 single mothers.

Also present were organising chairman of ‘Ngilling Bidai’ ceremony, Christopher Ugot and Penghulu Philip Kayak.
