BAU: A total of 25 students who will be pursuing their studies at various public higher learning institutions (IPTA) received incentives from the Tasik Biru constituency on Saturday (Sept 21).
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, said the incentives aim to support students as they transition into IPTA.
“This initiative started before I became the elected representative for this constituency, dating back to the establishment of Yayasan John Jinep in 2014.
“We have been providing these incentives every year to students who successfully secure places in IPTA. So far, 300 students have benefitted from this programme,” he told the Sarawak Tribune.
He said the initiative is now managed under his constituency’s service centre.
“Students who receive offer letters from IPTA can apply for this incentive, and the service centre will assist them accordingly.
“There is no deadline for the application process, so students can apply anytime at their convenience,” he said.
When asked for his advice to the students, he encouraged them to focus on their studies and return home with either a diploma or bachelor’s degree.
“As for those in Form 5 and Form 6, I urge them to keep working hard and strive for good results to further their studies in higher learning institutions,” he added.
