SERIAN: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) successfully completed its Advancing Racial Cohesion and Harmony (ARCH) Unity Lab in Serian today.
Serian’s Resident, Selamat Jati Yandah, who officiated at the ceremony, praised YPS for holding the workshop.
He hoped it would continue to promote unity in the state and organise more activities related not only to culture and traditions, but also religion.
“The role of religion as a unifying factor is very strong and can go beyond if we Sarawakians can work together to enhance our unity and harmony in the state,” he said.
He welcomed Sri Aman’s community leaders, government officers and youth to the workshop.
“Both Serian and Sri Aman participants should contribute more ideas and opinions to strengthen our society’s relationship and further improve our environment for the benefit of our children in the future,” he added.
The workshop was attended by government officials, local community leaders, youth association representatives, non-governmental organisation (NGO) members, and members of the general public from Serian and Sri Aman.
Previously, workshops were held in Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Sibu, Kapit, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Betong, and Sarikei in order to reach out to more Sarawakians and gather feedback on how to achieve greater Sarawak unity.
The unity lab managed to draw nearly 250 participants from various locations.
ARCH (Advancing Racial Cohesion and Harmony) is a Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) project that aims to understand and evaluate how Sarawakians perceive race relations among various ethnic groups and national integration in Sarawak, as well as frame it from a local standpoint to a broader tier of the national level.
