KUCHING: Entries are now open for the Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) 4th Inter-Primary School Swimming Competition which will be held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, here, on April 7.

Around 250 swimmers are expected for this year’s competition for schools in Kuching and Kota Samarahan divisions where trophies await the Best Boy and Best Girl teams and the top swimmers in each age-group.

PASC president Tan Kun Gee said the competition will be a platform for swimmers to display their talents at grassroots, to learn sportsmanship, how to set their goals and learn the value of hard work, as well as coping with disappointment.

Individual and team events (relay) will be competed over 50m to 100m distances in the freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly categories where gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the winners along with a certificate of participation for all swimmers.

Tan said four of the PASC swimmers had been selected by Amateur Swimming Association of Sarawak (Asas) to compete in the National Age Group in Kuala Lumpur after they met the qualifying times for Category A following their achievement at the recent Sarawak Age Group (SAG) 2019 swimming championship.

“Cayden and Wilfred created three new individual meet records during the SAG. Our team also contributed two new relay event meet records,” he added.

Tan also thanked Bright Star Optical Centre and D’ Eye Optical Lawas for their generous sponsorships.
