KUCHING: A total of 252 positive Covid-19 cases were recorded in the state on Monday (Mar 8).
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total, 234 cases were asymptomatic.
“Sibu District reported 149 cases, Bintulu (23); Miri (17); Subis (13); seven each in Kuching and Mukah; six each in Betong, Sarikei and Sebauh; five each in Kanowit and Kapit; two in Julau and Meradong; and one each in Belaga, Beluru, Samarahan and Tatau. This brings the total number of cases to 11,348,” it said in a statement today.
SDMC said there were also 182 new cases that have recovered and were discharged from treatment centres located throughout the state.
It said 62 of the recovered cases were from Sibu Hospital, Bintulu Hospital (45), Kapit Hospital low risk treatment centre (27), Sarawak General Hospital (20), Sarikei Hospital (12), Miri Hospital (11), Betong low risk treatment centre (three) and Sri Aman low risk treatment centre (two).
“This brings the total number of cases that have recovered and allowed to be discharged to 8,777 people or 77.34 percent of the total number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” it said, adding that the state also recorded 252 new persons-under-surveillance (PUIs) on the same day.
Meanwhile, the committee said there are currently 2,446 people who are receiving treatments for Covid-19 throughout Sarawak.
“These comprise 985 cases in Sibu, 328 cases in Bintulu, 328 cases in Miri, 286 in Kuching, 212 cases in Betong, 146 cases in Kapit, 134 cases in Sarikei, 21 cases in Sri Aman and six cases in Mukah,” it added.
As of March 7, SDMC said a total of 20,856 individuals have received their first dose of vaccination since Feb 26.
