SERIAN: A total of 26,175 students throughout Sarawak will benefit from the School Uniform Assistance Programme (BPSS).
Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said for this programme alone, the government has contributed RM4 million a year whereby each student received a voucher worth RM200.
“With this assistance, there is no reason for parents not to send their children to school,” he said at the BPSS Yayasan Sarawak 2021 vouchers presentation ceremony at Kampung Rayang Hall here on Tuesday (Oct 26).
In his speech, the Tarat assemblyman also reminded parents to always monitor the activities of their children who are still in school and not to place the responsibility solely on the teachers.
During the event, a total of 137 students from 13 schools under the Tarat state constituency received BPSS Yayasan Sarawak 2021 vouchers.
Sagah also advised parents to choose quality school supplies for their children.
Also present during the presentation ceremony were Serian Resident Tuah Suni and Serian Education Officer Charlie Unggang.
