KUCHING: A total of 27 graduates completed their 15-month Sarawak Bumiputera Chamber of Entrepreneurs (DUBS) Aspiration Training Programme 2016.

Assistant Minister for Entrepreneur Development Datuk Haji Mohd Naroden Majais said the initiative taken by DUBS to organise the programme was an effort to cultivate, produce and develop entrepreneurs in the construction and related fields.

“Through the training and systematic development under the biggest entrepreneur’s chamber in the state, I believe it will help the Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sarawak to go for a more specific entrepreneurship training and capacity that meets the requirement of the target group.

“In addition, this programme also acts as a platform to channel relevant input for companies under the chamber,” said Naroden when officiating at the graduation ceremony of DUBS Aspiration Training Programme (DATP) 2016 held at Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites here, yesterday.

He said the programme basically helped entrepreneurs to be more proactive in taking available opportunities instead of relying on the government.

He said the government would always give its cooperation and commitment to develop entrepreneurs to be more dynamic and competitive.

To be successful, he said entrepreneurs would need to change their attitudes towards more positive and dynamic enthusiasm to constantly gain knowledge on various aspects of business management.

“This is because in the era of knowledge-based economy (k-economy) today, those who have the knowledge and information can continue to move forward and be successful,” he said.

The 15-month programme, which started in January 2016, ended in March 2017.

Also present were DUBS president Datu Abang Helmi Tan Sri Ikhwan and DATP 2016 organising chairperson Juita Drap.
