KUCHING: Police issued 27 compounds to individuals for not wearing face masks in public places.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said police would continue to enforce standard operating procedures (SOP) compliance, including the use of face masks in public places.
“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with 10, followed by Padawan (eight), Samarahan (six), one each in Miri, Betong and Sarikei,” the statement read on Thursday (Aug 13).
Meanwhile, SDMC informed that police also arrested two Indonesian women for not complying with SOP at a snooker centre in Padawan.
On inter-zone travel restriction in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded a total of 1,268 vehicles that passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 12 to 13.
Of the total, 1,261 of them had obtained travel permission while seven had been ordered to turn back due to not having permission.
To date, 1,794 premises were monitored throughout the state. They are restaurants (414), supermarkets (211), banks (129), places of worship (92), public markets (106), government offices (71), leisure places (38), hawker stalls (52), factories (11), construction sites (15), and others (655).
SDMC also informed that 906 vehicles had been inspected in six ‘Ops Benteng’ roadblocks in five districts – Lundu (two), one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
