KUCHING: Two hundred and fifty civil servants in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and 30 ‘asnaf ‘(needy folk) received sacrificial meat during the qurban ceremony in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
The sacrificial meat was handed over to the recipients by Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Wisma SABATI here today.
The programme was organised by the Premier’s Departmnet in collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak, SABATI and the state Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK).
About 500 people attended the programme which featured Nasyid performances by two local groups.
Two of the cows which were slaughtered were donated by the Premier’s Department, two by MAKSAK, one by SABATI and three by Yayasan Sarawak.
Earlier, Abang Johari and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang together with other dignitaries also launched the programme.
Also present were the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and his wife Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and wife Datin Seri Enn Ong Siok Ean, Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Julaihi Narawi and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and wife Datin Seri Baduyah Bujang.
