BINTULU: Twenty-nine students of Bintulu Vocational College (KV Bintulu) yesterday received certificates of completion after finishing their Welding Industry Training (Link Project), a collaborative project between Bintulu Vocational College and Shell MDS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming congratulated the students for their dedication and hard work at their graduation ceremony held at a leading hotel here.
“You have shown a strong commitment to industrial welding, and this is no small feat. This is the first step towards a glorious future.
“Congratulations also to your parents, who stand as the pillars of the unity and unwavering support. Your sacrifice is not in vain.
“What’s more, as everyone knows, Bintulu is not just a dot on the map of Sarawak, but it is the heart of the industry that drives the state’s economy,” he said.
Pang also told them that jobs like mechanics, welders and so on were highly regarded abroad and capable of generating very high incomes.
He added that the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy, or PCDS 2030, was not just a discourse but a reality.
“Our efforts to make Sarawak a high-income state are already on the right track, and you, the graduates, are the drivers of this ambition.
“That’s why the skills you get through this industrial welding course are so valuable. You not only build your own career, but also help build our country.
“Today, we celebrate the success of 29 graduates. And when I researched the available opportunities, I found that welders have the potential to earn a decent income, according to their skill level and experience,” he added.
Also present were Shell MDS vice president, Amir Bakar.
