BINTANGOR: Three men endured over eight hours of pain after their pickup truck plunged into a ravine along Jalan Ulu Mujuk, Julau, today.
The trio, aged between 21 and 54, miraculously escaped the accident with minor injuries.
According to a spokesperson from the Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call was received at approximately 11.10 pm. Firemen were immediately dispatched to the scene, which was located around 130km away. They had to navigate through logging roads to reach the site.
Additional assistance was provided by the Sarikei fire station to aid in the rescue operation.
Upon arrival, the teams discovered the vehicle had crashed into a ravine that was approximately 100 feet deep.
The injured victims managed to extricate themselves from the vehicle and received preliminary treatment at the scene.
They were later transported to the Julau health clinic for further medical treatment.
Once the safety of the area was ensured, the operation concluded at 8.30 am, and the teams returned to their respective stations.
