SARIKEI: The presence of an uninvited guest, a three-metre crocodile, shocked the occupants of a house at Jalan Baji here yesterday night.

The discovery was made at 9.20pm when one of the occupants, who happened to be in the kitchen, noticed the reptile.

Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Mahmuddin Narudin said the residents initially saw a long and large object not far from their kitchen.

“He was shocked to find that it was a crocodile,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Mahmuddin said the man called the department for help, and nine Sarikei Bomba personnel led by Senior Fire Officer II Haron Jenai rushed to the scene.

However, the personnel were not able to catch the reptile which was too fast for them, said Mahmuddin, adding it jumped into the nearby river.

“I would like to advise the people to be careful if they must go to the river,” Mamuddin said.
