KUCHING: A two-day national jombola clinic was held here this week to promote the newly-introduced sport.
The clinic was also simultaneously conducted in Perak, Penang, and Johor, with plans to extend it nationwide by the end of the year.
About 30 participants from Kuching and Kota Samarahan districts attended the two-day clinic here from Oct 5-6.
They were trained by Sarawak Jombola Association head instructors, Ahmad Rodzli Hashim and Dr. Ong Kong Swee, along with three other Sarawak-based trained instructors.
Malaysia Jombola Association president Sukdev Singh, who was present to oversee the event, expressed his satisfaction with the development of the sport in Sarawak.
He also represented Sarawak Jombola Association president, Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, in launching the clinic and awarding certificates of attendance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the participants.
Each participant received a free jombola racket and ball, enabling them to introduce the sport to their local communities and schools in Kuching and Kota Samarahan.
Meanwhie the Sarawak Jombola (Bintulu) Competition will be held on Oct 19-20 in conjunction with National Sports Month at Stadium Muhibbah.
