KUCHING: Thirty dilapidated houses in the Pantai Damai constituency have been repaired so far.
Rural Electricity Assistant Minister cum Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the repair project was conducted with an allocation of RM1 million under the Minor Rural Project for the area.
“Work started last year and so far 30 houses have been completed,” he said after visiting the houses yesterday.
According to him, repairs were made to roofs, walls, floors, bathrooms and kitchens.
Dr Abdul Rahman said work will begin on another 30 houses in the near future.
“The cost of repairing a house is RM15,000. Two methods were used in the project – through contractors or gotong royong (group work) by villagers,” he said.
He added that the people who received the project assistance thanked the state government for making their home more liveable.
