Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri who officiated at the event, said the Al-Ameen project was an initiative in shaping and educating young people to become leaders of the future.

“Through this programme, our youths are exposed to opportunities that they may not obtain in school.

“Apart from that, the support of parents and teachers is very important in ensuring that these children continue to succeed and become disciplined, faithful, and optimistic leaders in the future,” she said.

The Al-Ameen Project is a

five-year programme initiated by SIIC to nurture and develop young Muslims (from various ethnic backgrounds) in communication, leadership and social skills whilst at the same time strengthening their spiritual and emotional quotients.

The project which began in 2015, was divided into three segments — lectures, activities and role plays as well as exposure visits. Thirty youth selected from various schools around Kuchingtook part in the project.

According to SIIC chief exec utive officer (CEO) Zabariah Matali, the name Al-Ameen was chosen based on the attributes of Prophet Muhammad SAW, taken from a book “Altruistic Service Leadership: Prophet Muhammad’s Model” authored by Datuk Ismail Noor.

To mark its 11th anniversary, SIIC chose the theme ‘Knowledge Unites’ to signify its growth and journey and more importantly to uphold information and knowledge as the backbone of a knowledge-wise and
knowledge-rich society.

Incorporated in 2018, SIIC opened its doors to the public, with a mission to foster a better understanding and appreciation of Islam through information and knowledge, utilising various channels of interaction and

communication.
