KUCHING: Team Dynamic Kuching (TDK), the Padungan fire station and Padungan police station have joined forces in sanitising over 30 shops at Jalan Padungan.
The sanitising work was carried out for two days from last Saturday.
TDK team leader Erik Tay said the purpose was to create awareness of the importance of following the standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, and to assure the public that eateries in Padungan were safe.
“As there was a Covid-19 cluster named Abell Cluster and quarantine hotels located in Padungan, some people might be afraid of going to this area.
“That is why we decided to work together with the fire and police team to carry out the sanitising work,” he explained.
He assured the public that eateries in Padungan followed the SOPs that had been set and that sanitising work was being carried out to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“With the help of the firefighters and police, we hope to create awareness of the importance of following the SOPs so that businesses can operate,” he said.
Deputy chief of Padungan fire station Sahabuddin Abang lauded the initiative of TDK for organising the sanitisation programme.
Padungan police station chief Inspector Hailwandi Suhaili said it was good to always carry out sanitisation work, especially in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Besides sanitising the eateries, TDK together with the police and firemen also handed out face masks and hand sanitisers to shop owners and the public at Jalan Padungan.
